3.247 billion dirhams of banking assets at the end of September

Yesterday, the Central Bank announced an increase in total banking assets by 0.6% from about 3.228 trillion dirhams, at the end of last August, to about 3.247 trillion dirhams at the end of September 2021.

The Central Bank stated in the report “Monetary and Banking Developments – September 2021” that total bank credit rose by 0.3%, from 1771.4 billion dirhams at the end of August to 1776.5 billion dirhams at the end of September .

The money base also increased by 1%, from 444.7 billion dirhams at the end of August 2021, to 449.1 billion dirhams at the end of September 2021.

This came as a result of a 1.6% increase in issued cash, a 12.4% increase in the reserve account, and a 6.2% increase in certificates of deposit and cash notes.

Total bank deposits increased by 0.7% from 1928.7 billion dirhams at the end of last August to 1942.3 billion dirhams at the end of September 2021, as a result of a 0.3% increase in resident deposits and a 3.7% increase in non-resident deposits.

Deposits of residents increased, due to an increase of 2.9%, 0.7% and 4.7% in deposits of the government sector, deposits of the private sector and non-bank financial institutions, respectively, compared to a decrease of 5.5% of public sector deposits (government entities.).
