A man who allegedly beat a woman forcibly stole a purse in Greektown wanted by police

TORONTO – Toronto police are asking the public for help in identifying a man who, they say, beat up a woman and stole her wallet earlier this week in the city’s Greektown neighborhood.

It took place on Tuesday at about 12:50 pm near Danforth Avenue and Bowden Street.

At the time, police claim a man was following a woman in the area when he approached her from behind and struck her in the back of the head with an unknown object.

Police said the man then “forcibly” took the woman’s purse before he fled north on Bowden towards Danforth.

The woman suffered head injuries as a result of the attack and required medical treatment, according to police.

A surveillance video of the man was released by police.

The man is described by police as standing five-feet-nine inches tall, with a slender build, and short gray hair. He wore a dark blue jacket with white stripes on both sleeves during the event.

Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact police.
