At least one dead in a flood as a state of emergency declared – Channel 4 News

It is described as once in a 500-year event and a “terrible, terrible disaster”.

The Canadian province of British Columbia saw monthly rainfall in just two days.

A state of emergency was declared as roads and railways were washed away, mass evacuations forced, and at least one person confirmed killed, with many more missing or trapped.

The extreme weather is the second climate crisis for the province just this year, after wildfires destroyed an entire city over the summer.
