Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin has said the UK and the EU must “undress” and resolve the dispute over Northern Ireland’s post-Brexit arrangements.
In a BBC interview, Mr Martin warned Britain against triggering Article 16 of the Northern Ireland Protocol.
He said: “where there is a will, there is a way, and I think both sides need only touch and resolve it.”
He continued: “my own opinion is that unilateralism never works” and using Article 16 would have a “very negative” effect.
Asked if he could trust Boris Johnson, the Taoiseach said “I get along well with Boris Johnson on a personal level”.
