Ali Day cemented his status as the undisputed Greatest of All Time of the Coolangatta Gold by competing for his seventh title on Sunday. Day flashed the field to claim his record seventh Golden win in comfortable fashion ahead of a three-man chase package with Corey Taylor (second) and 2019 champion Matt Bevilacqua (third) .So dominant was Day’s victory he was able to soak home. stretching out with his son Danny in his arms. A group of five hit the beach after the initial skigambo, with Bevilacqua and Day leading them into the water. But by the end of the swim it was Day’s race to lose – and he had no intention of letting that happen. The Surfers Paradise Ironman, who now boasts two more Coolangatta Gold titles than any other athlete in the history of the big race, broke free in the swim and was never seen from there. One day he hit the beach for the final run more than six minutes away from the hunting pack and from there he was able to soak everything in. MORE WILL COME.
