ABU DHABI, November 12, 2020 (WAM) – A number of ministers praised the UAE for winning the right to host the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in 2023, the world’s largest conference of leaders. of state and government on climate and environmental issues.

In their statements on this occasion, the ministers attributed the victory to the great position that the UAE occupies at all Arab, regional and international levels, thanks to the understanding vision of the wise leadership, which seeks fifty new ones filled with hope, work, progress, growth and prosperity with the help of the people of that generous country, an extension of the past five decades. all who live on the land of the Emirates, both citizens and residents.

For his part, His Excellency Abdul Rahman bin Muhammad Al Owais, Minister of Health and Community Protection, said there was a close link between health care and pollution, and stressed that the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. COP28 provides a forum to discuss all forms of pollution and its implications for health.

He noted that the UAE has always supported health initiatives in other countries, and said the existence of a relationship between climate change and health requires that we all come together to find practical solutions that stop carbon emissions, reduce air pollution and protect our oceans. .

His Excellency Suhail bin Muhammad Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, said that clean energy is the cornerstone of our strategy to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
