India will repeal controversial property laws | Commerce and Economy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announces a decision to repeal laws vigorously opposed by peasants.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that he had decided to repeal three controversial farm laws against which farmers have been protesting for more than a year.

“Today I came to tell you, the whole country, that we have decided to withdraw all three agricultural laws,” Modi said in an address to the nation.

“In the parliamentary session starting at the end of this month, we will complete the constitutional process to repeal these three agricultural laws.”
