NYC child hospitalized after falling nine floors from Bronx apartment

A 2-year-old boy was hospitalized after falling nine stories from his apartment window in the Bronx on Friday, police said.

The infant slipped out around 5:45 p.m., through an opening that police believe previously housed an air conditioner in NYCHA’s Forest Houses on Trinity Ave near E. 165th Street in Morrisania, the NYPD said.

The boy’s mother and an 11-year-old girl were present at the time. He was taken to Harlem hospital in critical condition, but was expected to survive, police said.

Neighbors told News 12 they heard mom yell “Help, my son fell out the window.”

First responders to arrive had to use a bolt to go through a fence and into an enclosed area where the child had fallen.

“It’s heartbreaking,” neighbor Theresa Marti told the outlet. “Just to be a parent and scream ‘Help, my baby fell out the window’.”
