Pedestrian struck, killed

Vancouver suffered their 18th pedestrian death of the year after a 59-year-old man was struck and killed in East Vancouver on Saturday evening.

Investigators said they believe the man crossed Kingsway, near St. Louis. Catherines Street, around 7 pm when he was struck by a car heading west.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police stated that the driver involved in the collision remained on the scene while officers arrived.

VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit is working to determine the cause of the collision. Currently, speed and alcohol are not considered factors in the crash.
