Woman says she was abducted, raped at gunpoint on Halloween – WSOC TV

CHARLOTTE – A Charlotte woman told Channel 9 that she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted by a stranger on Halloween morning.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said the woman was walking to her car, parked on Ethel Guest Lane near Oaklawn and Statesville Avenues, in north Charlotte at about 5 a.m. Sunday. That was when she said a man with a gun came from behind, threatened her, took her to his car and drove her away, where he then sexually assaulted her.

“It was very, very terrible,” she said. “I couldn’t stop crying.”

The woman told Channel 9 that she believed the man had followed her before the attack.

“It hurts and angers me to know that he could do this to other females as well,” she said.

The woman told Channel 9 she parked her car to go to a party Saturday night. She took Lyft back to her car and moments after she got out of the ride, the man grabbed her from behind and put a gun to her head.

“He said if I want to live,‘ You have to be calm and do whatever I say, ’and I just said,‘ Okay, ’” she said.

She said he then forced her into his car and started driving.

“He drove for maybe twenty seconds. He stopped the car and started sexually assaulting me, ”she said. “He kept saying, ‘You better shut up or I’ll kill you.’

She said she never saw the face of her attacker, but police shared footage from a surveillance camera.

The suspect is in his late 20s to early 30s with medium construction, police said. He was last seen wearing a gray hood. The suspect’s car is a four-door black Dodge Charger.

The victim said after the attack, the man drove her back to his car and she drove home and called the police. After the fear subsided, she found the courage to share her story because she said she didn’t want anyone else to go through her nightmare.

“I never thought it would have happened to me. It’s such a scary world, ”she said. “I’m glad I came out alive from this because I didn’t know what was going to happen to me that night.”

She said she was not going anywhere alone after the attack, and even brought someone with her to talk to Channel 9.

CMPD is actively investigating and has asked anyone in the community with information about the suspect or this case to call Detective Murphy immediately at 704-353-1744. Information can also be left anonymously at Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or by clicking here.
